Abstract

The article offers a biographical sketch of Antonio Alcalá Galiano (1789-1865), a pivotal figure in 19th-century Spain's political and constitutional history. It explores his role in the Riego uprising, his career as a deputy and minister, and his academic contributions, particularly his "Lecciones de Derecho Político y Constitucional" (1843), which laid the foundation of Spanish Political-Constitutional Law. The text also highlights his intellectual influences, literary achievements, and personal contradictions, such as his shift from liberalism to moderate politics, as reflected in his memoirs.
