Economic, social, cultural and environmental rights against COVID-19

This paper addresses the state that economics, social, cultural and environmental rights keeps with the pandemic context and explains the guidelines that drifts from the Inter-American Court of Human Rights jurisprudence with the purpose of build a new normality, egalitarian, democratic and respectful of human rights. COVID-19 has had a catastrophic impact on humanity, but there were also perverse incentives that led to its spread and increased fatality rate, including: poverty, exclusion and inequality. Therefore, the guidelines contained in the Inter-American judgments will be analyzed in relation to the following rights: health, work, social security, education, healthy environment, water, housing, culture and to food. We cannot govern the way we did before COVID-19.
