Manuel García Pelayo
Abstract
The text provides a profile of Manuel García Pelayo (1909-1991), a renowned Spanish jurist, political scientist, and constitutional scholar. After earning his law degree and doctorate from the Central University of Madrid, he began his academic career and pursued further studies in Europe until the Spanish Civil War interrupted his trajectory. He later embarked on a prolific academic career in Latin America, notably as director of the Institute of Political Studies at the Central University of Venezuela. Upon returning to Spain in 1979, he served as a Magistrate of the Constitutional Court and its President from 1980 to 1986. His academic legacy includes seminal works such as Derecho Constitucional Comparado, Mitos y símbolos políticos, and El Estado de partidos.
