Abstract

The text examines the political and social crisis in Spain, arguing that the root of current problems lies more in a crisis of democracy than in the autonomous state model. It explores how public discontent and austerity policies have weakened both the autonomous system and trust in democratic institutions. The author suggests that the solution requires strengthening democracy through effective representation, accountability of public officials, and expanding citizen participation, including reforms at both the state and European levels.
